American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) provides several grant opportunities for research focused on aging processes and age-related diseases. For information on AFAR's funding, click here.
The National Institute on Aging, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of the National Institutes of Health, offers funding for research dedicated "to understanding the nature of aging, supporting the health and well being of older adults, and extending healthy, active years of life for more people." The Alliance for Children & Families' New Age of Aging initiative provides funding to help its members "effectively respond to older adults' needs and strengths through programs and services." More information on the initiative and the grants offered may be found here.
Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation supports "the advancement of drugs to prevent, treat and cure Alzheimer's disease, related dementias, and cognitive aging." For more information on ADDF's funding for drug discovery research programs, click here.
American Health Assistance Foundation, which "seeks to eradicate age-related degenerative diseases," offers funding for Macular Degeneration Research and Glaucoma Research, as well as three types of awards for their Alzheimer's Disease Research Program. InnoCentive, Inc. in collaboration with the AARP Foundation, have launched the AARP Foundation-InnoCentive Challenge Series, to help improve the lives of struggling Americans 50 and older. The two initial challenges -- Sustainable Solutions and Elimination of Food Deserts -- are aligned with AARP's Drive to End Hunger program. Each challenge will award $10,000 in prizes to the best submission(s). For more information, click here.
