Program: The first annual Gladys Marinelli Coccia Award will recognize two young
female social entrepreneurs, ages 14 to 17, whose initiatives serve the common good of
the community.
Award: $2,000 for the social enterprise; travel, lodging, and registration to National
Service-Learning Conference in San Jose, CA – March 24-27, 2010; awardee will serve
as a spokesperson for YSA’s initiatives; invitation to serve on the executive board of
Girls Helping Girls; access to YSA’s resources to support and expand social enterprise
Eligibility: Girls between the ages of 14 and 17 on January 1, 2010; located in the
United States (special consideration will be given to nominees located in West Virginia
and Metro Washington, DC); must have her own social enterprise; be supported by

Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment
Capacity for Juvenile Treatment Drug Courts
US Department of Health & Human Services,
Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
Program: The program expands and/or enhances substance abuse treatment services
in "problem solving" courts which use the juvenile drug court model. The model
provides: alcohol and drug treatment; recovery support services supporting substance
abuse treatment, screening, assessment, case management; program coordination to
juvenile defendants/offenders. Priority for the use of the funding should be given to
addressing gaps in the existing continuum of treatment.
Award: Total available funding: $8.8 million; 27 awards at a maximum of $325,000 each
Eligibility: Existing individual Juvenile Treatment Drug Courts or their Tribal/State or
local governmental proxies who may apply on their behalf

OVW FY 2010 Court Training and Improvements Program

Program: This program supports court and court-based initiatives that aim to improve
civil and criminal court functions, enhance court infrastructure and improve court
responses to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
Award: Judicial Education and Court Personnel Training Project: $50,000, Domestic
Violence Docket Project: $100,000, Dedicated Domestic Violence Court Project:

Sprint has announced the 2010 entry dates for the Sprint Character Education Grant Program, its annual character-education grant program for schools and school districts across the United States. The 2010 program will run from January 4 through February 5, 2010.

Now in its third year, the program awards Sprint Foundation grants to school districts and individual schools in support of resources that facilitate and encourage character education among K-12 students. The program is open to all U.S. public schools (K-12) and U.S. public school districts.

In 2010, the grant program will award individual-school grants between $500 and $5,000 each and school-district grants between $10,000 and $25,000 each. In 2009, the Sprint Foundation awarded more than $450,000 in combined grants to schools and school districts through the program.
