This week we've gathered information on several funding opportunities for projects focusing on architecture, humanities, cultural preservation, and the arts.

If you are an individual or organization working in these fields, you may be interested in the following grant opportunities:

The MacArthur Foundation Documentary Film Grants fund documentary projects from U.S.-based production companies and non-profit organizations that will address contemporary social issues or explore important but under-reported topics in a journalistic manner.

The MacArthur Foundation supports the production and distribution of news and documentary programs for television, radio, and the web that help inform the American public about important domestic and international current affairs and policy issues.

Cal Humanities Communities Stories Grants (previously the California Story Fund) is an ongoing, competitive grants program designed to support projects that document and share compelling stories from and about California’s diverse communities.
Deadline: August 1

The Graham Foundation for Advance Studies in the Fine Arts supports projects from individuals and organizations that explore innovative idea in architecture and design. Production and Presentation Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to assist individuals with the production-related expenses necessary to take a project from conceptualization to realization and public presentation. These projects include, but are not limited to, publications, exhibitions, installations, films, new media projects, and other public programs.

Research and Development Grants of up to $10,000 will offer individuals assistance with seed money for research-related expenses such as travel, documentation, materials, supplies, and other development costs.

The James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation Mid-Career Grant awards up to $15,000 to professionals working in the areas of historic preservation, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning, decorative arts, architectural design, and architectural history.

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's Fund for Creative Communities is providing grants of up to $5,000 for projects that enable Manhattan communities to experience and engage with the performing, literary, media, and visual arts. 
Deadline: September 17

The Grammy Foundation Archiving and Preservations Projects Grants support organizations and individuals dedicated to archiving and preserving the music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas. The Grammy Foundation Scientific Research Projects Grants provides a $20,000 maximum award to support scientific research on the impact of music on the human condition.
Deadline: October 1 (For Letters of Inquiry)

The Multi-Arts Production (MAP) Fund was founded on the principle that experimentation drives human progress, no less in art than in science or medicine and is particularly interested in supporting work that examines notions of cultural difference or "the other," be that in class, gender, generation, race, religion, sexual orientation or other aspects of diversity. The fund is looking for Letters of Inquiry from artists whose performance work embodies the spirit of explorations and inquiry.

The American Academy in Rome's Rome Prize is awarded each year to thirty emerging artists and scholars in the early or middle stages of their careers who represent the highest standard of excellence in the arts and humanities.
